I promised earlier that my web site would be a place to learn about important literary events. Here are a couple of can't miss events in the Richmond area.
Sept. 28: Starting on this date, the Library of Virginia hosts several author conversations and special events leading up to its Oct.15 announcement of this year's literary awards to Virginia authors in the areas of fiction, nonfiction and poetry. Virginia author Adriana Trigiani will host the Oct. 15 celebration. For more information, go to www.lva.virginia.gov.
Oct. 12: Chip Jones, author of The Organ Thieves: The Shocking Story of the First Heart Transplant in the Segregated South, will give a keynote address about his book to the Virginia Commonwealth University community at 6 p.m. at the Singleton Center for Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Jones' book, published in 2020, was the winner of the Library of Virginia 2021 Literary Award for Nonfiction.
